How We Select Featured Work
Each Italy Photo Award feature is selected through an editorial review of the project’s idea, presentation, execution, and overall creative impact.
We consider work from photographers, designers, artists, developers, studios, agencies, and independent creators. Professional recognition, agency size, and follower count do not determine whether a submission deserves consideration.
Step 1
Initial Review
We confirm that the project can be viewed, the creator can be identified, and the submission includes enough context for evaluation.
Step 2
Concept Evaluation
We consider the central idea, intended audience, creative perspective, and the purpose the work appears to serve.
Step 3
Execution Review
We examine how composition, type, imagery, interaction, motion, color, and other details support the project as a whole.
Step 4
Final Selection
Projects with a strong relationship between idea, execution, originality, and impact may be chosen for publication.
What We Look For
A Recognizable Idea
The project should communicate a purpose, perspective, story, or creative intention that can be understood through the final work.
Visual Consistency
The individual elements should feel connected, even when the work uses contrast, variation, or deliberate experimentation.
Independent Judgment
We value work that demonstrates its own creative reasoning rather than simply reproducing a popular formula.
Lasting Impact
The work should offer something worth remembering, reconsidering, exploring, or sharing with others.
Different Work Requires Different Criteria
Photography, interface design, branding, web development, and motion graphics do not serve identical purposes. We therefore avoid using one rigid formula for every submission.
A photograph may stand out because of timing, composition, access, or emotional honesty. A website may be recognized for visual communication, usability, responsiveness, and the way its appearance supports its function.
Each project is considered within the possibilities and expectations of its own medium.
Originality Does Not Require Novelty
A submission does not need to invent an entirely new creative discipline. Familiar formats can still produce exceptional work when they are approached with insight, care, and a distinct perspective.
We are interested in how effectively the creator uses the chosen medium, not whether every technique has never been seen before.
Recognition Is Based on the Work
We welcome projects from emerging creators, students, independent professionals, established artists, and international studios.
Follower counts, previous awards, advertising budgets, and industry connections are not substitutes for the quality of the project itself.
Credits and Project Information
When a project is featured, we aim to identify the photographer, designer, artist, developer, studio, or agency responsible for the work. Published profiles may also include a project description and links to an official portfolio or website.
Creators can contact us if a name, credit, title, link, or project detail needs to be corrected.
